Series Guide

The Scheming God

Seven years on air. Hell still can’t take credit for a minute of it.

A dark fantasy series by KemiKaze. Dark fantasy — psychological, dialogue-driven, told with a cold wit. Book One is out now in ebook, paperback and audiobook.

The premise

For seven years, HellTV has watched Lucian Voss work. The frightening part is that Hell never taught him how.

Eighteen years on one perfect scheme: his father’s empire, taken without force, without theft, without ever raising his voice. When the old man goes down on his own boardroom floor, every demon in creation comes to its feet. Some are comparing his work to the Devil’s.

The Devil is not flattered.

So he offers a wager. Three living worlds. Ruin each as Hell ruins men — turn its own nature against it until it chooses destruction. Win all three, and ask for anything within the Devil’s power. Fail once, and stay there, ordinary, forever.

Lucian accepts. No army, no magic, no infernal edge.

He keeps the pipe.

The Scheming God: Book One — cover

First world: a prosperous goblin coast. Clever people. Careful institutions. A bank that has never once been robbed.

Hell thinks it’s watching the greatest con ever run. The Devil thinks he knows how it ends.

They’re both looking in the wrong direction.

Who it’s for

Readers who want a villain protagonist who’s actually good at his job. This is cons, manipulation, dark humor, and a wager with the Devil — not a progression or stat-system book, and nobody in it wears plot armor. The schemes are on the page: surprising in the moment, obvious in hindsight. If you’re tired of “smart” characters propped up by luck, prophecy, or opponents written dumb, this was written for you.

Who’s on screen

  • Lucian Voss The Subject

Took his father’s company the week his father died and felt nothing about either. Eighteen years building the coldest, cleanest record on Earth — and Hell can’t claim a point of it. Currently: not on Earth anymore.

  • Nip Trainee Demon

Badge says TRAINEE. Nobody has explained the job. Got dragged into the vault for the season finale on his first hour of employment and has not stopped asking questions since — a policy Baz strongly discourages.

  • Baz Senior Demon

Built like furniture. Horns filed down from age. Has watched every episode from the same seat in the same vault and has strong, mostly unspoken opinions about how this one ends.

  • Vel Courier

Junior enough to still be vibrating, senior enough to be the one they sent through the seam. Arrived with a letter, a stack of fan mail, and no composure whatsoever for a dramatic pause.

Frequently asked

What is The Scheming God about?

A conman so good Hell compared his work to the Devil’s — and the Devil took it personally. Lucian Voss accepts a wager: ruin three living worlds as Hell ruins men. Win all three and he can ask for anything within the Devil’s power; fail once and he stays there, ordinary, forever. No army, no magic — he keeps the pipe. Dark fantasy: psychological, dialogue-driven, told with a cold wit.

Is there an audiobook?

Yes — narrated by Jarred Cannon, 9 hours 4 minutes, and written for the ear from day one. It’s live on Spotify now, with more platforms lighting up as their reviews clear; Audible’s review takes the longest.

Is it a standalone or a series?

The Scheming God is Book One of the series, and the series continues. Lucian’s wager covers three worlds; Book One is the first.

What is HellTV?

Hell’s broadcast. For seven years every demon in the pit has watched Lucian Voss’s life as a show — the highest-rated season HellTV has ever run, for a reason nobody down there can explain: none of it was Hell’s doing.
